The awareness session by Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee (POSH) was carried out at Shri Bhumika Nursing College auditorium on 27th of March 2024, the session was attended by Shri Bhumika Nursing College faculties and ANM, GNM and BSc Nursing students. The main purpose of session was to educate and sensitise students and staff about sexual harassment and the measures in place to prevent it. Principal of SBNC Prof. Dr. S. Vasanthakumari introduced the purpose of induction program on POSH for the audience comprising Students, teaching and non- teaching faculties of SBNC.
The speakers of the session were Mr. Emidio A Desouza Pinho and Mrs. Shubadha Dicholkar. Sexual harassment and overview of the law and regulations related to sexual harassment, including the sexual harassment of women at workplace (prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act 2013, and information on the support services available to victims were told by Mr. Emidio A. Desouza Pinho. Mrs. Shubadha Dicholkar further interacted with students explaining them various case scenarios of sexual harassment in college and at workplace and how to report them. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Annie Dias, Assistant Professor from SBNC.
On 24 August 2024, Sarvam conducted an online session on POSH Act which aimed to educate the employee about the importance of creating safe and respectful workplace. The programs commenced in the presence of Mrs. Ranjita Pai (Chairperson of Goa state commission for Women and Child development) and Mr. Sharad chodnecar (IR and HR committee Member of GCCI). The session covered the legal framework, organisational responsibilities and individual roles in preventing sexual harassment.
